Michael Dixon

Contracting Chief

On January 22, 2017, Michael D. Dixon Jr. assumed his current role as the District Contracting Chief for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District.

Dixon began his USACE career in the Kansas City District as a Contracting Officer in 2008. From 2008 to 2014, Dixon worked in the Civil Works Contracting Branch. As a Branch Chief, he was responsible for an average of 600 contract actions each year in support of 500 miles of the Missouri River, 18 lake projects, and two hydropower facilities. Between 2010 through 2012, Dixon lead his branch in executing a historic number of contract actions in support of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Dixon was assigned as the Contracting Division lead in support of a flood fight mission that lasted during the summer of 2011 and included over 150 contract actions. From 2014 through 2016 Dixon worked as a Team Lead for the Hazard, Toxic, and Radioactive Waste Contracting Branch and was responsible for all high-dollar contract awards in support of the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program, the Formerly Used Defense Sites program, Environmental Protection Agency Superfund sites, and the Army's Base Realignment and Closure Act program.

Originally from Lawrenceville, Georgia, Dixon graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management. He also graduated from Auburn University with a Master of Business Administration. Dixon holds Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act certifications in Contracting (Level III) and Program Management (Level II).
