Senior leaders, media and the city mayor gathered outside U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District's headquarters March 26 to fill a time capsule commemorating the District's 150-year history of service to the state and nation.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Charleston District and the City of Charleston hold a virtual public scoping meeting on the Charleston Peninsula Coastal Flood Risk Management Study on March 30 from 5-7:30 p.m. to encourage public input as the study transitions from an Environmental Assessment (EA) to Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The public meeting is also part of a 30-day public input period which runs until April 22.
The Charleston District is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2021. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers presence in Charleston started in 1821 with the first projects and a permanent office was established in 1871. Learn more about the history of the Charleston District and our plans for this year.
