The applicant requests a 10-year permit to perform maintenance dredging within the existing Harbourgate Marina. The dredging events would be performed by a hydraulic cutter-head dredge. Approximately 12,850 cubic yards of material from 3.98 acres of tidal waters would be dredged during a single dredging event to a maximum sloped depth of -12.0 MLW with a 1.0’ allowable overdepth. Material proposed to be dredged consists of silt and sand. Up to two (2) dredging events are anticipated within the life of the DA permit, resulting in a total of 25,700 cubic yards of material proposed to be dredged. Dredged material would be hydraulically piped to the neighboring CDF (389 L-B) located just southwest of the marina basin adjacent to Sea Mountain Highway. A 16” diameter dredge pipeline will be utilized to transport the dredged material to the disposal basin and will be anchored within and along the banks of the AIWW. The applicant has stated that the CDF consent agreements would be negotiated with the Corps Real Estate Division and Horry County prior to use.
