On June 27, 2016, Major Jason A. Legro became the Deputy Commander for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District.
As the Deputy Commander, Maj. Legro serves as second in command of the District. His primary role is to manage and supervise the general and administrative staff in support of all District operations. He also plays a critical role with supervision of the District’s Emergency Management Operations in support of federal, state and local authorities during federally declared emergencies and other critical times as required.
Maj. Legro joins the Charleston District after serving most recently as the Battalion Executive Officer in the 8th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas.
Other assignments include the 36th Engineer Brigade at Fort Hood, Texas; Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at Utica, New York; the 14th Engineer Battalion at Fort Lewis, Washington; USACE Tulsa District, Tinker Air Force Base, OK; and the1st Armored Division, Germany. Major Legro deployed multiple times to Operation Iraqi Freedom and to the Republic of Korea with the first rotational brigade.
Originally from Manchester, New Hampshire, he is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire in 2001. Maj. Legro completed Mechanized Leaders Course, Air Defense Artillery Officer Basic Course, the Engineer Captains Career Course, and Intermediate Level Education at the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Hampshire and a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri. He holds a Professional Engineer license in the state of Missouri and he is a certified Project Management Professional.
