A Look Inside a DLA Warehouse
As part of the Charleston District’s Interagency and International Services program, the District has been completing projects around the country for the Defense Logistics Agency. DLA is the Department of Defense’s largest logistics combat support agency and provides equipment, storage and services in both peace and wartime to military units and civilian agencies. DLA is home to many very large warehouses where equipment is stored in nine countries and 17 states. Tanks, weapons, food, documents and much more are stored in DLA warehouses and the Charleston District provides services that keep these facilities functioning properly. Whether it be replacing a roof or HVAC system, installing fire protection measures and doors, or changing ceiling tiles for preventive maintenance, the District plays an important role in this worldwide mission. This graphic represents some of the aspects of a DLA warehouse, including the types of things stored inside and examples of work we’ve done. Only the bay door is open, but we’ve put X-ray vision on the rest.
