Public Scoping Meeting for the Proposed Jasper Ocean Terminal

Who: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District

What: The Charleston District is holding an open house and public scoping meeting to provide information about the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) that is being prepared for a proposed marine container terminal that would be adjacent to the Savannah River in Jasper County, South Carolina. Members of the public will have an opportunity to give verbal or written comments at the meeting.

When: Tuesday, January 31; open house from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.; public scoping meeting from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Where: Hardeeville Elementary School, 150 Hurricane Alley, Hardeeville, NC

Why: This open house and public scoping meeting is being held to provide the public with information about the proposed project and to collect written and oral comments from the public about the affected environment in order to identify issues that should be evaluated in the EIS. A court reporter will be present to document statements made during the meeting. Public involvement is an integral piece of the Corps’ process in evaluating impacts of the project.
