The proposed work consists of constructing a parking lot expansion for the Summerville Medical Center. In detail, the applicant is proposing to discharge approximately 4,700 cubic yards of fill material into 1.46 acres of a freshwater wetland and 0.86 acre of upland buffer to facilitate 287 additional parking spaces for the medical center. The wetland and upland buffer are currently protected by covenants associated with Department of the Army Permit Numbers, SAC-2011-0945-2NG and #89-2A-005. The applicant has proposed to mitigate for impacts to the preserved wetlands and upland buffer by purchasing 48.72 wetland mitigation credits from a Corps approved mitigation bank. The project purpose is to provide adequate parking for the Summerville Medical Center.
