Expiration date: 4/3/2025

The proposed work consists of maintenance dredging of an existing marina basin of 50,724 cubic yards of material, with an additional 50,000 cubic yards as needed over ten years, from a 17.56 acre site within the following six areas; North Bulkhead Channel dredge area (to a depth of -6.0 MLW), Lower Main Channel dredge area (to a depth of -11.0 MLW), Main Docks and Fairways dredge area (to a depth of -8.5 MLW), Upper Main Channel dredge area (to a depth of -7.5 MLW), Med/Private Docks dredge area (to a depth of -6.0 MLW), and Dewees Island Marina dredge area (to a depth of -6.0 MLW).  The applicant is requesting authorization under a ten-year Department of the Army (DA) permit.  Additionally, the proposed work consists of new dredging of 4,500 cubic yards of material to a depth of -6.0 MLW within 0.77 acres of the AIWW (Waterway Island Docks).  The material from all seven areas will be dredged using a hydraulic cutterhead dredge or mechanical dredge.  Dredge material will be disposed of in an approved Dredge Material Placement Facility (DMPF).  The applicant is requesting both forms of dredging to provide for greater flexibility when hydraulic dredging is not available.  When hydraulic dredging, the material would be placed into a scow and transported to an approved DMPF where the sediment would be liquified by addition of water and the resultant slurry would be pumped into the approved DMPF.

The applicant was previously authorized to dredge in portions of this proposed area under DA permit SAC-2002-12750.
