  • The Charleston District recently acquired a Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) system that allows us to get detailed imagery of the topography of our projects. The survey team mounted the LiDAR onto an ATV and created the RAMbLr (Rapid Assessment Mobile LiDAR) which enables them to take quick assessments of project conditions.

  • The Charleston District has a Job Order Contract (JOC) in place that allows smaller projects to be completed by a single contractor without new contracts being awarded each time. A JOC is awarded for a set amount of money and once projects have totaled that amount, the JOC is done. This allows smaller projects to be done quicker without having to go through the whole contracting process each time.
